The Token cap ensures that the game economy remains balanced after the update. Because Upgrade Coins were distributed under a different progression model, converting unlimited amounts into Tokens could create large imbalances in the new system.
We suggest that you spend your Upgrade Coins before the update is released so that your Racers benefit from rounding up to the next Star when Season 19 is launched.
