Dear players,
Canada updated its federal privacy law (PIPEDA) as well as the state of Quebec (Act 25) in order to modernize the regulatory framework for the protection of your privacy and your personal data.
What it means?
This means that when Gameloft intends to collect your personal data for tracking operations (i.e. collection of personal data for identification, profiling and/or geolocation activities) we are required to be transparent by informing you and to seek your explicit consent prior to collect your personal data for these operations.
What is the transparency principle?
Gameloft is required to provide you with information enabling you to understand how your personal information we intend to collect will be used, communicated, and possibly shared with third parties. This is to ensuring that you can make an informed choice by agreeing or refusing the collection of your personal data for tracking operations.
What is explicit consent?
Explicit consent results from a positive action on the part of the user. For example, when you tick a box, when you set a toggle on or when you click on a button "I agree".
How to express your consent?
We put in place a Consent Management Platform (CMP). This is a system that provides you with the information required by the regulations prior to seek your consent accordingly.
Thanks to this system, you are able to make an informed choice that will be respected by Gameloft.
What the CMP looks like?
The CMP is a prompt disclosing the required information. After reading the information, you can decide to whether click on "I agree" to allow Gameloft to fire tracking means and collect your personal data for tracking operations or to click on "I refuse" to prevent Gameloft from carrying out these operations.
For how long is explicit consent valid?
In Canada, your explicit consent is valid for 12 months. After that period, we'll display the CMP again to you so that you can make fresh choice.
What if I change my mind?
In the case where, for example, you agreed that Gameloft collects your personal data for tracking operations but that you changed your mind, you can go to the settings of the game or on the "manage my choices" section on the website (at the bottom) to change your settings accordingly. The change is immediate.
What about underage?
Canadian regulation requires parental consent for users that are under 14 years old. At Gameloft, as we do not support this type of functionality, the collection of personal data for tracking operations is therefore prohibited for under 14. This means that the CMP will not be displayed for underage as no personal data will be collected for these operations.
